Hey Subscriber First Name It’s great to be here with you again. Last week, we talked about connecting the dots of our lives when we look backwards. This week, we’re exploring how we never really know where the ripples we create might end up. It’s rooted in one of my favourite ideas ‘precession’. I’ll be honest, I was never much of a physics fan at school. It all felt abstract and distant. But the older I get, the more I see that physics isn’t just about equations. It’s about how the world really works. Physics tells us about vectors, things that have both direction and magnitude. They show which way something is going and how much energy it carries. In life, we think in vectors too. We look ahead, measure progress and assume momentum will carry us towards our goals. But Bucky Fuller’s idea of precession tells us something different. In the physical world, when you apply force to a spinning object like a gyroscope or the wheel of a car, the reaction doesn’t happen in the direction you expect. It happens at 90 degrees to where the force is applied. In other words, the real impact happens sideways. While we think we’re pushing forward, the true effects of our actions often unfold somewhere else entirely - unseen, yet deeply connected. It’s a humbling thought. We rarely get to see how the love, kindness or integrity we put into the world moves through others or how it changes things in ways we’ll never know. Maybe that’s why connecting with others in nature feels so powerful. It reminds us that every small action, like every ripple, is part of something larger than we can see.
