Hello Subscriber First Name This week’s theme is procrastination, so it feels fitting to acknowledge that I’m sending this email a little later than usual. More on that in a moment. But first, let’s return to last week’s question: “What are you putting off and what might that resistance be trying to protect you from?” This one landed deeply for me. I’ve spent many years unpicking my inner landscape, getting to know my belief systems, behaviours and coping strategies. And if I’m honest, this past week has been a busy one. The emotional, physical and philosophical weight many of us are carrying right now feels bigger than I’d realised. The difference is, I now recognise the signs when my system needs to slow down. So I listened. I used one of my favourite tools (that I’ve previously shared with you), the Motivation Map to spot where things had drifted off course. I’d overestimated what I could hold and I knew I needed to make space if I wanted to access the wiser part of my mind. So I said no to a few things. And while it was absolutely the right call, the perfectionist and people-pleaser in me weren’t thrilled. For a while I procrastinated, not because I didn’t care but because two belief systems were in conflict. And this newsletter is a prime example. I could have powered through to meet an arbitrary deadline, or I could slow down, regulate and speak from a more grounded place. Earlier versions of me would have stayed up half the night, wondering why I couldn’t be better organised. But this newsletter is meant to be regenerative. A reflection of the work I do and the life I’m building. So I chose presence over perfection. I hope you don’t mind receiving it a few hours later today. And as a reward for your patience, I’ve created an offer just for my newsletter subscribers which you can read more about below. But before we get to that, George Carlin is here to remind us about the power of creating the space to ask ‘why’ or why not’? There will always be things to keep us busy and away from asking the deeper questions (work can be very good at keeping us disconnected from what really matters).
